Come forth to the Heathland

This saturday, the 5th of November, something rare and utterly amazing is happening in Copenhagen.

Artist Annette Skov, whom I've worked with a bunch of times, invites everyone to join her as she plants the seeds for the first heathland in Copenhagen since it gained city status in the 13th century.
The sentiment behind the new plantation is the melancholy of growing up in Jylland being around the heathland, being a part of nature, only to move to Copenhagen where most nature is fabricated or controlled in order to plan infrastructure.
100 square meters of Refshaleølen will spur and grow and most likely survive the crazy winters in Copenhagen. It's similar to an urban garden but nature will dictate itself, not people.

It's part site-specific user engaged art project, part exhibition, as her explorations and sculptures from Jylland's heathland will be exhibited in "Calluna Vulgaris" at Yard Gallery next to the plantation. The book "Heathland" will be released at Yard as well, a book I designed. It's a really wonderful little art book.

I love this concept, I think it's so appealing bringing something unrestrained into the cityscape.

I will be there, you should really come too! I hope there'll be lots of people.
